Digital accessibility has become a much-discussed topic over the past year. This growing focus is no coincidence. Organisations evaluate inclusion as more and more important. In many cases it has become a strategic priority. This shift is particularly evident in the research industry, where digital accessibility is no longer seen as an option but essential for engaging diverse audiences and meeting client expectations.

Research buyers are becoming increasingly conscious of accessibility and inclusive research design – driven by growing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) demands, updates to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the newly enacted European Accessibility Act (EAA).

Askia’s Commitment

We have observed a significant shift in how research buyers are approaching accessibility. This has evolved from a simple tick-box on RFP forms to a request for both technical capability and procedural implementation. This transformation is being driven by four key developments:

  • The European Accessibility Act (EAA) has now become law and will have financial penalties for non-compliance.
  • The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) has increased the level of the threshold for technical compliance.
  • Environmental Social Governance (ESG) initiatives that highlight disability inclusion as a critical component.
  • Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) asking companies to measure and track progress of their digital inclusion

Askia is proud to have launched a dedicated Accessibility section in its Help Centre. Our team has written a series of short, educational and practical articles explaining the fundamentals of accessibility and offering step-by-step guidance on how to create accessible web surveys.

The Hub

Available in the “How to” section of our Help Centre, the Accessibility Hub provides all the key information you require to get you up to speed on this trending subject.

Accessibility is a large topic. It is important to fully understand the nuances. Therefore we have broken it down into bitesize articles that build to provide a complete picture.

Further practical considerations, following the WCAG ‘POUR’ Principles:

Accessibility is here to stay

Accessibility is an enduring consideration that businesses must integrate into their operations. Like GDPR’s impact on privacy standards, the EAA will similarly enhance digital accessibility norms. Inclusive research is no longer optional: it is evolving from being a ‘nice-to-have’ to a necessity for any future-ready organisation.

Implementing accessibility measures not only elevates the quality and relevance of research. As the ethical landscape evolves, it has become a strategic priority. It allows market research teams to gather richer and more inclusive insights, ultimately enabling research buyers to make more informed decisions.

We hope that our Accessibility Hub will assist our users in creating web surveys that are truly inclusive and open to all.
